VAUXHALL BRIDGE CLOSURE

In September 2023, Bristol City Council announced the temporary closure of Vauxhall Bridge, the bridge over the New Cut that links Spike Island to Coronation Road, Southville and Bedminster.

The restoration of Vauxhall Bridge is expected to cost £3m and take up to 2 years, and the bridge will remain closed throughout.   ​

The contract has been awarded to Griffiths, the contractor responsible for Gaol Ferry Bridge restoration and the New Cut / Chocolate Path restoration.

We are seeking clarification on the duration of the closure, more scrutiny of the progress of works, and an explanation of the procurement process for this and other projects taking place in our community.
